Electronic Commerce engineering as a branch of Information Technology (IT) Engineering was established, as a university degree program, due to first, the vast volume of information and its undeniable crucial role in management and administration, second, the increased instrumental role of computer technology in the quality of collection and organization of information, and third, development of Internet infrastructures in rapid transfer of information. The main goal of e-commerce as a postgraduate degree major is training students who, after completing the course, are capable of formulating strategies, designing, and managing e-commerce systems, in order to remove obstacles to utilize the existing potentials in information technology and e-commerce.
Definition and Objectives
This master course in IT is comprised of a coordinated set of training-research modules in information systems management, e-commerce, multimedia systems, information security, and computer networks. Depending on the subject, the program utilizes a theoretical, experimental, or hybrid modality of research. The training component is, in fact, a means of overcoming theoretical shortcomings of students prior to their research.

They may also provide advising services in information systems and e-commerce for public and private organizations.
