The Iran National Science Foundation (INSF), in collaboration with the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (RAI), has announced a call for proposals entitled “Modeling, Capacity Analysis, Optimization, and Simulation Studies of Railway Corridors Connecting China to Europe via Iran”.
The call aims to support problem-driven research projects focusing on China–Europe railway corridors through Iran and encompasses ten research areas. The proposed studies address a range of topics, including identification and simulation of bottlenecks in the railway network, route capacity assessment, freight train scheduling, optimal fleet allocation, simulation of border terminal operations, container handling processes, and transit demand forecasting.
The Principal Investigator must be a faculty member of a university or an educational and research institution. Given the interdisciplinary nature of the research topics, leveraging the School’s interdisciplinary capabilities and fostering collaboration with other academic groups and schools/faculties is strongly encouraged.
Submission Deadline:
The proposal submission period is from September 16 to October 17, 2026.
The Research Deputy of the School is prepared to provide the necessary support throughout the preparation, submission, and follow-up of proposals. Interested faculty members are kindly invited to contact the Research Vice-Deanship to coordinate the necessary follow-up activities.
